Target Rifle Victoria is the governing body for small-bore and air rifle shooting in Victoria. They are affiliated with Target Rifle Australia and Shooting Australia, providing opportunities for members to compete interstate and potentially represent Australia in the Olympic and Commonwealth Games.
Target Rifle Victoria has about 40 affiliated clubs throughout Victoria, offering a safe and enjoyable environment for rifle range activities. They pride themselves on their excellent safety record, achieved through the diligence of club officials and members. The organisation is committed to developing programmes and providing trained officials to maintain and enhance their safety standards.
The association is grateful for the support and assistance they receive from the Victorian Institute of Sport and Sport and Recreation Victoria in their development programmes. They aim to develop athletes who can compete at the highest levels while ensuring that all members have access to competitions at their chosen level. The minimum age for participation in TRV is 12 years, and members can continue to enjoy competitive shooting well into their seventies.
Members of TRV receive a yearly calendar listing various TRV competitions, allowing them to participate in these events. Even those who may not consider themselves skilled enough to compete are encouraged to join, as shooting in TRV competitions is more of a social event. The calendar also includes competitions run by clubs that are open to TRV members, fostering a sense of camaraderie and socialisation among shooters.
Membership with TRV also provides coverage under Target Rifle Australia's Public Liability insurance and includes a subscription to the quarterly TRA magazine, keeping members updated on the latest news and developments in the sport.
