For kids aged 3 to 14 years old, Arrow Martial Arts offers three different programmes tailored to meet their specific needs. The “Little Stars” programme is designed for 3 to 4-year-olds, the “Bright Stars” programme is for children aged 5 to 8, and the “Super Stars” programme caters to kids between 9 and 14 years old. These programmes are structured to foster discipline, self-confidence, and physical coordination in a safe and supportive environment.
Adults at Arrow Martial Arts can partake in training programmes that emphasise immediate and practical fighting skills. The Northstar Ju Jitsu system taught at the club focuses on simple defensive combinations in all ranges of fighting. This includes distant fighting with long-range kicks and punches, in close fighting with knees, elbows, and standing grappling, as well as ground control. The training is aimed at providing students with valuable self-defence moves and tips right from their first lesson.
Regardless of size or fitness level, individuals are taught how to generate explosive power by utilising their entire body weight to strike weak points.
Arrow Martial Arts takes pride in its unique training system, which is the only system developed specifically for Australia. All trainers at the club are graduates of the Northstar system, created by Sensei Andrew Dickinson, who has over 30 years of martial arts experience. By incorporating the best elements from various martial arts forms, Sensei Andrew Dickinson has developed a comprehensive and effective training programme for individuals of all ages and abilities. Students progress at their own pace, and within three months of training, they can expect improved fitness and basic self-defence skills.
With continued dedication, individuals can strive towards achieving a black belt in 3 to 4 years.
Classes at Arrow Martial Arts are available throughout the week, including Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, at their Marsfield dojo (Japanese for training studio). The dojo provides a robust and safe training environment for students to test their skills through sparring and to develop their overall physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Arrow Martial Arts was founded by Robin and Corinne Dosoruth, both qualified and accomplished Northstar Ju Jitsu Black Belts. They are also accredited under the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS Level 2). Robin, a 5th Dan Black Belt, and Corinne, a 2nd Dan Black Belt, have not only excelled as martial artists but have also represented Australia in international competitions, winning silver and bronze medals at the World Council of Ju Jitsu Organisations (WCJJO) world championships.
As affiliated dojos with Northstar Martial Arts, Robin and Corinne's Arrow Martial Arts is part of a network that includes other well-established clubs across Australia, such as Quantum Martial Arts in North Sydney and Sydney City, as well as Weststar Martial Arts in Subiaco, Perth.
