What does ANU Judo Club offer?

We teach judo as a dynamic Olympic sport focused on fitness, strength and flexibility. Training includes throwing and ground work, using techniques in a controlled manner during practice and competitions.

When and where do you train in Canberra?

We train Tuesdays 8 to 9.30pm and Thursdays 8 to 9.30pm. We also train Saturdays 3 to 4.30pm during the listed dates.

Control, while the objective of grappling techniques is to immobilise, strangle, or submit your opponent. Judo differs from other martial arts in that it allows practitioners to test the effectiveness of their techniques through freestyle practise and competitions.

ANU Judo Club is a sports club located in Canberra that aims to promote the practise and enjoyment of Judo. Training sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8pm to 9:30pm. The club also participates in the Uni games and other competitions, although participation in these events is not compulsory.

In terms of fees, current ANU students are exempt from ANU Sport Club affiliation charges. Other individuals will be charged $120 in Semester 1 or $60 in Semester 2, which will be collected through the UniOne system upon joining the club. Judo club fees are $110 for students in Semester 1 (1 year) or $60 in Semester 2. ANU Sport members/associates are charged $150 for Semester 1 (1 year) or $80 in Semester 2.

Judo ACT fees, which cover affiliation, gradings, competitions, and insurance, are $50 per year.
