Abbotsleigh Swim Club is a sports club located at the Abbotsleigh School Aquatic Centre in Wahroonga, on Sydney's north shore. The club provides swimming training for girls and boys of all ages and skill levels. The swimmers train in an 8 lane, 25m indoor facility at the Abbotsleigh School Aquatic Centre, and the Gold squad also utilises the nearby 50m indoor pools at Knox and PLC.
Coaching at Abbotsleigh Swim Club is provided by the experienced staff of the Abbotsleigh School Aquatic Centre. Coaching fees are paid directly to them, while Abbotsleigh Swimming Club charges a separate membership fee. The club welcomes anybody who is interested in swimming, regardless of their gender. They cater to a wide range of swimmers, from those who have just graduated from “learn to swim” programmes to those at an elite level.
Membership to Abbotsleigh Swim Club is required for most of their squads, including Mini Marlins, Junior Challenge, White, Black, and Gold Squads. The club strongly encourages any swimmers who would like to experience competition to consider joining. In addition to regular training sessions, the club organises timed Club nights and fun swim races each term, strategically placed in the competition calendar.
Abbotsleigh Swim Club is affiliated with Swimming NSW and the Swimming Metro North East (SMNE) Area. They regularly attend external meets and competitions. As a non-profit organisation, the club is run by a voluntary management committee and relies on the support and involvement of parents to provide club racing and support to their swimmers.
The club has a dedicated team of coaches who are committed to the success and development of their swimmers. One of their coaches, Amanda Isaac, is a Gold licenced coach with a track record of producing Australian representatives. She has led Nunawading Swimming Club in Victoria to its most successful period in 55 years. Another coach, Joao Loureiro, has competitive swimming experience from Portugal and has coached swimmers to success at both Junior and Senior State Championships.
Callum Meikle, a development coach and qualified primary school teacher, is also part of the coaching staff.
In addition to swimming, Abbotsleigh Swim Club believes in the importance of overall fitness and well-being. They offer a range of activities and events to support their swimmers' development. The club provides a supportive and motivating environment for swimmers to reach their full potential both in and out of the water.
