Takase Shihan moved to New Zealand and established Aikido Shinryukan. He has dedicated his life to the practise and teaching of Aikido, and his expertise and experience make him a highly respected figure in the Aikido community.
Aikido Shinryukan NSW offers Aikido classes for individuals of all ages and skill levels. Located in both Woologoolga and Coffs Harbour, our classes provide a safe and supportive environment for beginners and experienced practitioners alike. With our first two weeks free offer, it's a great opportunity to come and try Aikido without any financial commitment.
Aikido is not just a martial art, but a way of life. Developed by O-Sensei Morihei Ueshiba, Aikido aims to develop individuals physically, mentally, and spiritually. Rather than focusing on defeating an opponent, Aikido emphasises blending with an attacker's energy. Through the use of evasive movements and joint locking techniques, practitioners can redirect an attack without causing permanent harm.
Aikido is suitable for people of all sizes and ages, as it uses the attacker's own strength against them.
While Aikido primarily focuses on unarmed techniques, we also offer weapons training with wooden practise weapons such as the staff, sword, and knife. This aspect of Aikido helps practitioners understand defence against weapons attacks and brings depth to their overall practise. Safety precautions are always taken seriously, as the practise weapons can cause serious injury if mishandled.
At Aikido Shinryukan NSW, there are no tournaments or competitive matches. Instead, the focus is on repetitive practise and personal growth. Aikido classes provide a thoughtful and studious atmosphere where students can improve their suppleness, flexibility, concentration, and overall personality. Aikido does not rely on strength, making it accessible to almost anyone.
Aikido Shinryukan NSW is a relatively new Aikido organisation in Australia, specifically serving the Coffs Harbour region. Our dojo in Woologoolga is affiliated with Nobuo Takase Shihan 7th Dan, who has a direct connexion to the Aikido World Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. Takase Shihan is not only the Head Instructor of Aikido Shinryukan but also serves as the Aikikai World Headquarters Representative for New Zealand.
Led by the expertise and guidance of Takase Shihan, Aikido Shinryukan NSW is committed to providing high-quality Aikido training and fostering a strong Aikido community in the Coffs Harbour area.
