The Ardrossan Golf Club is a well-established sports club located in the Yorke Peninsula Council area. With its 18-hole sand scrape course, watered fairways, and tee boxes, it offers a fantastic golfing experience for players of all ages and skill levels. The course is gently undulating and fairly short from all tees, making it an ideal choice for both beginners and experienced golfers.
Visitors are always welcome at Ardrossan Golf Club, and a convenient honesty box is available for paying green fees when the clubhouse is not manned. The club holds regular competitions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, providing opportunities for both friendly competition and skill development. More information about visiting the club and the various membership options available can be found on the club's website.
The history of Ardrossan Golf Club dates back to before 1924, when the first golfing enthusiasts played near Dinham's Hill with makeshift holes. In 1924, the District Council of Yorke Peninsula granted permission for the club to use the parklands for sporting purposes. At that time, the course was very basic with no clubhouse, and players would meet in a small tin shed after the game. It started as a 6-hole course but was later extended to 9.
The course features a range of tee options, with a course guide available on the club's website providing information on each hole. The Red Tees (Ladies) measure 4903m, while the Blue Tees (Men) measure 5048m. The course has a Par of 70 for men and Par 72 for ladies, with Slope Ratings of 65 for men and 70 for ladies.
For visitors interested in playing in competitions, the club provides a schedule of competition days and start times. Ladies have 18-hole competitions on Tuesdays from March to September and 12-hole competitions on Tuesdays from October to February. Men have 12-hole competitions on Wednesdays throughout the year and 18-hole competitions on Saturdays from April to September. Mixed 18-hole competitions are available on Saturdays from October to March.
Contact information for the Men's and Ladies' Captains is available on the club's website for further information.
The Ardrossan Golf Club is open seven days a week, allowing players to enjoy the course at their convenience. The club operates on an honesty box system, so visitors are requested to ensure they have the correct change for paying green fees. It is important to pay green fees before teeing off and to carry a sand bucket for repairing divots on tee boxes and fairways. To ensure a smooth flow of play, groups should be kept to a maximum of four players, and faster groups should be allowed to play through.
Visiting players not participating in a club competition are expected to give way to those in a club competition.
Membership at Ardrossan Golf Club offers great value, with full-year membership available at competitive prices. Additionally, the club offers a Summer Membership option exclusively for players interested in the warmer months of the year. The club is currently reviewing its reciprocal agreements with other Yorke Peninsula scrapes courses, and updates will be provided on the website.
Whether you're a local or a visitor to the area, Ardrossan Golf Club welcomes you to enjoy a round of golf on their fantastic course. With its beautiful surroundings and friendly atmosphere, it's the perfect place to relax, have fun, and improve your golfing skills.
