Arrogone Archers is a sports club located in Hobart, Tasmania. The club is dedicated to the sport of archery and is affiliated with Archery Australia and Archery Tasmania. It was established by a group of passionate archers who wanted to create a club that was conveniently located near the Hobart CBD and provided a sheltered area for practise.
The club is equipped to accommodate beginners and groups of all ages. They offer beginner sessions for those who are new to the sport and want to give it a try. These sessions are run several times a week and cater to a variety of groups. The sessions are perfect for anyone, regardless of age or capability, who wants to find out if archery is the right sport for them.
The minimum age for participants at the range is 7 years old.
During the beginner sessions, participants will receive professional coaching and guidance to help them progress from their first shot at 10 metres to hitting their first bullseye at 70 metres. The sessions last approximately two hours and cost $20 per person. All necessary equipment, including bows, arrows, and protective gear, are provided by the club. Attendees are advised to wear enclosed shoes and bring hats, drink bottles, and sunscreen for sun protection.
Arrogone Archers is open to both members and non-members. Members have access to the range on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 10am and 12pm. The range is also occasionally open throughout the week, depending on weather conditions and the presence of a field captain.
The club is located in the Gerrard Street Reserve in West Moonah. Access to the club by car is through a gate on Highfield Street, or by walking up the hill from the carpark at the base of Gerrard Street. It is recommended to avoid driving down into the range during the winter months or after heavy rain, unless in a 4WD vehicle. Alternative parking is available at the carpark at the bottom of the hill.
Arrogone Archers extends their gratitude to the Glenorchy City Council and the neighbourhood residents for allowing them to use the Gerrard Street Reserve as their practise venue.
