The history of Art Evolutions Dance School dates back to 1916 when it was originally known as Dutton's Dancing School. Founded in Birkenhead, England by James Herbert Dutton and his wife Hannah, the school was later continued by their granddaughter, Jean Dutton, in the 1940s. Jean and her family eventually moved to Australia in 1964 and opened up a school in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, later relocating to Chelsea in 1978. It was during this time that the school was renamed Art Evolutions Dance School.

Today, the school is run by Jeanette's daughter and James' great-great-granddaughter, Jessica Gregor, who has had a lifelong passion for dance. Jessica has studied under the teaching of her mother and grandmother and holds teaching qualifications from the Australian Academy of Theatrical and Ballet Dancing Inc. as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching from the University of Melbourne.

Art Evolutions Dance School has various policies in place to ensure a safe and positive environment for all students. This includes a COVID-19 safe policy and comprehensive school policies for the year 2022. The school is committed to providing a child-safe environment and adheres to child safety policies.
