Ausdance QLD is a vibrant sports club located in Brisbane, Australia. With a strong focus on dance and movement, the club offers a range of programmes and services to cater to the needs of dancers of all ages and abilities.
At Ausdance QLD, they are committed to supporting and promoting the dance community in both local and national arenas. Through advocacy efforts, they work closely with local, state, and federal governments to create positive change and improvements for the dance sector. This includes collaborating with the Ausdance network to develop and enhance conditions, quality, career pathways, and recognition within the dance community.
One of their primary focuses is ensuring that their members stay informed and up-to-date with the latest COVID-19 restrictions. They actively communicate with dancers to understand their concerns, views, and requires regarding restrictions, vaccinations, compliance, and masks. Additionally, Ausdance QLD is dedicated to learning about and respecting First Nations Cultures through conversations, listening, reading, and engaging with Traditional Owners in Meanjin and Gimuy Countries.
As part of their commitment to providing valuable resources and services, Ausdance QLD is currently trialling an online self-assessment compliance platform. This platform allows members to review their compliance with the national principles for child-safe organisations, with the aim of ultimately regulating the dance sector, starting with child safety. They also collect and analyse data to provide regular updates to Arts Queensland and the State Government, ensuring that the unique needs of Queensland's dance community are heard and addressed.
Another key aspect of Ausdance QLD's work is their participation in a 'validation' exercise with Jobs Queensland. This exercise involves providing strategic advice on future skills needs, aiding the government in prioritising investments in vocational education and training within the dance sector. They also organise information sessions to educate members on their rights and responsibilities as employees, contractors, freelancers, employers, or contracting organisations/companies.
The community of Ausdance QLD acknowledges and pays respect to the Traditional Owners of all Lands and Countries on the continent. They particularly honour Elders, Cultural and Community Leaders, and emerging leaders, recognising their significant contributions. The Ausdance QLD office is proudly situated on Turrbal and Yuggera Country in Meanjin (Brisbane) at the Thomas Dixon Centre, affirming their commitment to the local community.
