Australian Horse Academy

The Australian Horse Academy, located in Nambour, is a renowned sports club specialising in horsemanship clinics and demonstrations. Founded and managed by Michael Sekulich, the academy offers regular events based on the teachings of Xenophon, a fourth-century horseman whose techniques are still widely used around the world today.

Originally from Yugoslavia, Michael brought with him years of experience in the equine industry when he arrived in Australia in 1970. His extensive career includes stock work in the Snowy Mountains, camp drafting, cutting, show jumping, endurance riding, and horse training for movie stunts. Through his unique approach to natural horsemanship, Michael not only starts, trains, and re-educates horses but also strives to make his students better and safer horsemen and women.

The teachings of the Australian Horse Academy draw upon ancient techniques that have influenced modern natural horsemanship trainers. These techniques are rooted in Xenophon's treatise “On Horsemanship,” which has shaped humane approaches to horse training in various disciplines, including dressage.
