Promote the sport of powerboat racing. We work closely with member clubs and the National APBA to ensure that the racing rules are followed and to represent the interests of NSW clubs, drivers, and boat owners at national meetings.
At the NSW Council, we do not conduct events ourselves. Instead, we coordinate and oversee the various powerboat racing events that take place in the state of NSW. Our website provides up-to-date information on upcoming events, race results, and general news related to powerboat racing. You can also find information on how to get involved in racing, including rules and rule changes, racing classes, and forms and licences.
The racing rules for powerboat racing in NSW are laid down by the National APBA. The National APBA consists of member state councils and an offshore council that oversees offshore racing. Any changes or amendments to the racing rules can be submitted by member clubs via their state council. These changes are then considered at the annual National Council meeting, where each member club votes to accept or reject them.
Race dates are also decided at this meeting, with efforts made to schedule major events with sufficient separation to allow for maximum participation.
Membership in the NSW Council is open to clubs with an interest in powerboat racing. However, individuals who are interested in becoming members must join the National APBA through the NSW Council. The only members of the NSW State Council are the clubs themselves. The council also handles appeals against decisions made on race rules and results, and has the authority to discipline owners and drivers if necessary.
The NSW Council is made up of representatives from each member club. Two individuals from each club in NSW are appointed to sit on the council, and elections are held at the annual general meeting to determine key positions such as the president, secretary, and vice presidents of various racing categories. The Council is controlled by the member clubs, and executive members carry out their wishes and make recommendations to the council. However, executive members do not have voting rights on most matters.
The Council is also represented on the National Council by two delegates who participate in decision-making and represent the interests of NSW powerboat racing.
As a non-profit organisation, the NSW Council's sole purpose is to promote and support powerboat events in the state of NSW. We strive to create an environment where powerboat racing can thrive and provide opportunities for enthusiasts to engage in the sport. So whether you're a club, driver, boat owner, or simply a fan of powerboat racing, we welcome you to the NSW Council and encourage you to get involved in this exciting sport.
