In 1927, a small fibro clubhouse was built and over the years, it has been expanded and renovated to accommodate the growing membership and provide better facilities. Today, Avalon Beach SLSC boasts a modern and spacious clubhouse with fantastic views of the beach.

Avalon Beach SLSC is dedicated to the safety of beachgoers. Every weekend and on public holidays, trained Surf Lifesavers patrol the beach, ensuring that swimmers stay safe and within the designated swimming areas marked by red and yellow flags. Despite these preventative measures, the club still rescues over 50 people every summer.

The club is also committed to educating and training its members, particularly the youth. They offer various programmes including Nippers, which teaches children aged 5 to 13 important water and beach safety skills through fun and engaging activities. Additionally, they provide fitness training, surf sports coaching, and lifesaving education courses.

Avalon Beach SLSC is deeply rooted in the local community and actively participates in community events. They organise several popular events including the Lion Island Challenge, Carols at the Beach, the Avalon Beach Surf Swim & Around the Bends Swim, and the Mackerel Challenge. These events not only promote physical fitness and water safety but also bring the community together.

With over 1100 members, including more than 225 Patrolling members, 400 Nippers, and 360 General and Associate members, Avalon Beach SLSC welcomes new members with open arms. Whether you're a seasoned lifeguard or a beginner looking to learn new skills, there's a place for you at the club.
