Bancoora Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) is a sports club located in Geelong, Victoria. Established in 1962, Bancoora SLSC has been proudly patrolling Bancoora Beach for over 50 years.
The main focus of the club is providing life-saving services at Bancoora Beach from November until late April each year. The dedicated volunteers of Bancoora SLSC ensure the safety of beachgoers and provide assistance in emergency situations.
For those interested in becoming a lifesaver, Bancoora SLSC offers various awards and training programmes. The Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) is offered to participants who are at least 13 years old and capable of swimming 200m in 5 minutes. This certificate provides basic patrolling and surf awareness knowledge. The club also offers the Bronze Medallion (BM) course, which enables participants to participate in lifesaving patrolling operations.
To be eligible for the BM course, participants must be at least 15 years old and able to swim 400m in 9 minutes. Bancoora SLSC also offers training for the Radio Operator Certificate (ROC), Resuscitation (CPR), and Advanced Resuscitation Techniques & First Aid (ART/FA).
In addition to life-saving activities, Bancoora SLSC hosts various events and competitions throughout the year.
