Bankstown Chatswood Rifle Club has a rich history, dating back to when Chatswood Rifle Club was formed in 1915 and Bankstown Rifle Club formed in 1915. The clubs later merged in 1997 to create Bankstown Chatswood Rifle Club. Our club is registered for target shooting, hunting, and collecting, making us suitable for those looking to obtain licences in these categories.
At BCRC, we believe in creating a social and enjoyable shooting experience. While we value competitiveness, we also prioritise the formation of a supportive community. We have regular club championships and participate in interclub competitions to foster camaraderie among our members.
Chatswood Rifle Club has a unique historical background, originating as a training ground for WW1. Many of their members served in the war, with some making the ultimate sacrifice. One member, Pt. Ben Hardy, was posthumously awarded the George Cross for his bravery during World War 2.
Bankstown Rifle Club also has a notable history, with several members serving with distinction in World War 2. One standout member, John Peter Sanderson, endured years as a Japanese POW in Changi Prison.
As a club, BCRC focuses on two core shooting disciplines – F-Class and Target Rifle (T/R). F-Class includes F-Class standard, F-Open, and F-T/R shooting, while Target Rifle is often referred to as T/R or full bore. Our range is limited to a maximum distance of 800m at ANZAC Rifle Range in Malabar.
Membership enquiries are always welcome, and we are open to both experienced shooters and newcomers. We prioritise inclusivity and provide a bundled deal for unlicensed shooters, covering range fees, rifle and ammunition use, tuition, and supervision. Our weekly fees for members are $25, while those under 21 or students pay $15. Unlicensed visitors can take advantage of the bundled fee, with adults paying $60 and juniors and pensioners paying $50.
