BaySide Physie is a sports club located in Brisbane, Australia. They offer classes for all ages, from Little Butterflies for ages 2-4, Juniors for ages 4-12, Seniors for ages 13 and above, and Ladies for ages 17 and above. The club prides itself on creating an inclusive team atmosphere where members can have fun while being active.
Physie, a fusion of dance and sport, is the main focus of BaySide Physie. The club believes that Physie empowers girls for life and helps them develop strong bonds and friendships that last a lifetime. The club's motto is inspired by Alexander the Great: “There is nothing impossible to him who will try.
For the Little Butterflies class, which is unfortunately not currently available, the club aims to teach the basics of Physie while helping the youngest members learn coordination and gross motor skills. Juniors, Seniors, and Ladies classes focus on teaching the BJP Syllabus, where girls learn skills and techniques to enhance their Physie over the course of the year. Seniors and Ladies classes also provide opportunities for members to showcase their skills and perform at an outstanding level.
The club strongly encourages members to attend two classes per week to fully benefit from their Physie experience. The dress code for girls includes a leotard or firm-fitting active wear such as shorts, singlets, or leggings. Baggy clothing, school uniforms, and skirts are strongly discouraged, and it is requested that hair be neatly tied back. For the benefit of students' concentration and to manage noise and distractions, parents and siblings are asked to sit in designated waiting areas during classes.
However, during the last week of each term, parents are invited to the hall to see their child's progress during a designated “viewing week.
BaySide Physie is proud to have a dedicated team of teachers, including Cheryl Chelman as the Head Associate and Co-founder, Bec Euston as an Associate and Co-founder, Erin Thornton as an Associate Teacher, and Lacey Thornton and Saige Thornton as Assistant Teachers. These teachers have years of experience and are passionate about sharing their love for Physie with their students.
