Mrs Doris Raison formed the Bencubbin Ladies Hockey Club in 1948, but was unable to get into the Dampier League until the 1949 season. This meant that practises were held throughout 1948 to get ready for the clubs first season. The 1949 season was coached and captained by Mrs Judith Raison. Games were played on the school grounds and away games meant travelling on the school bus that was owned by Mr Bob Aitkin.
