In the late 1990s as interest waned, and the club rebranded as the Bendigo Bushwalkers.
Fast-forward to 2008, the Bendigo Bushwalkers joined forces with the Bendigo Outdoor Club to form the Bendigo Bushwalking and Outdoor Club (BBOC). This amalgamation allowed the club to offer a wider range of activities and provide more opportunities for its members to explore the great outdoors.
BBOC is proud to have over 50 passionate members, all of whom are foundation members. The club's logo is a combination of the iconic bushwalking boot from the Bendigo Outdoor Club and the snowflake on a mountain from the Bendigo Bushwalkers. It represents the club's commitment to both bushwalking and cross-country skiing.
The club's calendar is filled with exciting activities for members of all skill levels. Bushwalking is a core activity, with options for overnight pack carrying trips, day walks, and social day walks from a base camp. Bike rides are often on mountain bikes or leisurely rides through local bushland. River environments are explored through rafting, canoeing, and kayaking trips on both weekends and day trips.
BBOC members not only enjoy local adventures but also organise trips throughout Victoria, and sometimes even interstate and overseas. This community of outdoor enthusiasts is united by their love for the great outdoors and their desire to discover new places and challenge themselves.
To encourage community engagement, BBOC welcomes visitors to join them at their monthly meetings. These meetings take place on the fourth Tuesday of each month (except December) at the Presbyterian Church Hall on Forest Street. It's an opportunity to meet the friendly members, learn more about the club's activities, and get involved in the planning process.
Whether you're a seasoned outdoor enthusiast or a beginner looking to explore the wonders of nature, the Bendigo Bushwalking and Outdoor Club invites you to join them on their next adventure. Connect with them on social media and through various club directories to stay updated on their upcoming activities and be part of a vibrant community of outdoor lovers.
