Bodycentric is a rehabilitation and movement centre located in the heart of Adelaide CBD, dedicated to helping professional and pre-professional performers reach their full potential. With a focus on injury prevention, dance rehab and conditioning, vocal and laryngeal physiotherapy, and pilates, Bodycentric provides high-quality services to support performers in their artistic pursuits.
At Bodycentric, the goal is to facilitate each individual's specific goals and improve the way their body moves and feels through manual therapy and movement. The aim is to leave clients feeling freer, stronger, and with a heightened sense of body awareness, equipped with the tools to maintain their long-term health.
The founder of Bodycentric, Melinda, has a special interest in physiotherapy for performing artists. She herself has a strong dance background, having performed as a child extra in the English National Ballet Company's production of Romeo & Juliet at just 13 years old. This experience ignited her passion for a career as a professional ballet dancer and ultimately led her to become a physiotherapist. Melinda's personal journey through injury and rehabilitation has given her valuable insights into the rehabilitation process and the importance of addressing contributing factors.
Melinda holds several qualifications that make her well-equipped to assist performers in their physical health journey. She is an APA Titled Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist with a Master's degree in Sports Physiotherapy from La Trobe University in Victoria. She has also completed a Master of Physiotherapy, a Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Movement & Health Studies, and a Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction. Melinda has trained with esteemed organisations such as Polestar Pilates International.
Throughout her career, Melinda has had the opportunity to work with various renowned dance companies and musical theatre productions. She has treated ballet dancers from companies such as Ballett Zürich and the Australian Ballet Company, as well as performers from musicals such as Frozen and Hairspray. In addition, she has worked with vocalists and athletes from football clubs like Sturt Football Club and North Melbourne AFL Club.
At Bodycentric, Melinda combines hands-on physiotherapy with movement in the studio setting. This allows for a comprehensive assessment of a client's movement patterns and impairments, enabling targeted retraining and incorporating evidence-based practises.
Whether you are a performer looking to optimise your vocal performance, recover from an injury, or improve your overall conditioning and movement, Bodycentric is committed to supporting you every step of the way.
