Brunswick Surf Life Saving Club

Brunswick Surf Life Saving Club is a well-established sports club located in Byron Shire Council, Australia. Situated in the charming fishing village of Brunswick Heads, the club was founded in 1935 with the aim of ensuring the safety of bathers and fishermen in the area. It is responsible for patrolling the beaches from the Belongil Creek mouth in the south to the surf beaches of New Brighton and South Golden Beach in the north, on weekends and public holidays from September to April.

The club's location is conveniently positioned 400 metres south of the entrance wall, offering ample parking facilities and a large park and picnic area. Access to the club is made easy by a vehicle and foot bridge across Simpsons Creek. The beach stretches southeast towards Byron Bay for a distance of 10. 5 kilometres, terminating at the mouth of Belongil Creek.

While popular among bathers and fishermen, caution must be exercised due to the hazardous conditions. The river mouth bar has a reputation for capsizing boats, and the surf beach is dominated by a double bar system with strong rips. Additionally, a prominent rip runs against the southern training wall, and there are strong tidal currents and breaking waves between the training walls.

Brunswick Surf Life Saving Club is always eager to welcome new members and encourages individuals from other clubs who have moved to the Brunswick Valley to join. The club's junior ranks, or JAC, cater to children aged 5 to 14 years old, providing an opportunity for them to get involved in surf lifesaving activities and learn essential skills.

The club's history dates back to November 8, 1935, when it was formed with the goal of patrolling the south beach at Brunswick Heads.
