Byford BMX Club, formerly known as Pegasus BMX Club, was established in the early 1980s at Briggs Park Oval in Byford, Perth. The club was founded during the peak of the BMX craze in the 80s and was initially formed to host the 1984 Qantas Australian BMX Titles. This event was notable for being one of the first in Australia to feature professional riders from the USA, with Clint Miller and Gary Ellis taking first and second place, respectively.
As one of the oldest BMX clubs in Western Australia, Byford BMX Club temporarily closed in the mid-90s but reopened in the late 90s when BMX experienced a resurgence. The club's reopening coincided with the announcement that BMX would be included in the 2008 Olympic Games. The club's track became a regular racing venue for future Olympian BMX rider Khalen Young, who competed on Friday nights at Byford BMX before pursuing a successful professional BMX career in the USA. Khalen achieved rankings as high as World Number 2 and was even the number 1 professional ranked rider in the USA in 2009.
