Nutrition, and injury prevention. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just starting out, Caboolture Road Runners welcomes everyone to join their friendly and inclusive running group.
The group is made up of runners, joggers, and walkers of all ages, ranging from 8 to 80 years old. Both men and women are part of the club, with most members running for fitness purposes, while others compete in age group events and fun runs. Caboolture Road Runners provides a supportive environment where members can learn how to run, receive support from their peers, and even take their running to a higher level if desired.
Meetings take place weekly on Mondays at 6pm and Thursdays at 7pm, at the athletic track located at Centenary Lakes Sports Complex on Morayfield Road in Caboolture. In addition to these regular sessions, members also organise runs at various other locations on a weekly or monthly basis, including Bribie Island, Glasshouse, Narangba, Burpengary, Deception Bay, Somerset Trail, Sheepstation Creek Environmental Park, and Mt Mee.
The club actively encourages community involvement and participation in organised fitness events such as the Redcliffe Jetty to Jetty run and the Bridge to Brisbane. Additionally, Caboolture Road Runners holds monthly handicap events to reward new runners who show improvement and to acknowledge the dedication of existing members. A shorter summer series and a monthly time trial are also part of the club's calendar.
Members of Caboolture Road Runners enjoy more than just running. The social aspect is highly valued, with most runs concluding with coffee and conversations. Beyond running, members also engage in activities such as swimming, cycling, kayaking, bushwalking, and mountain climbing. The club organises group trips for activities such as cycling and trekking in Nepal, marathons in Scotland, ultra events in Germany and South Africa, hikes up Mount Bowen on Hinchinbrook Island, climbs up Bartle Frere (Queensland's highest peak), runs on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, the Blue Mountains in Sydney, and even teams participating in the Kokoda Challenge.
For those who are unsure if running is for them or have never taken it seriously before, Caboolture Road Runners offers a try-out programme. The programme consists of three graduated exercise sessions per week for a duration of nine weeks. Members of the club train together on Thursdays, while the other two sessions can be completed at a time convenient for each individual. The programme is well-documented, easy to follow, and participants receive support from experienced club members who can provide knowledge on all aspects of regular exercise, including footwear, clothing, stretching, nutrition, and injury prevention.
If you're looking to join a supportive and friendly running group in Brisbane, Caboolture Road Runners is the perfect choice. Regardless of your running ability, age, or goals, this club offers a welcoming and inclusive community where you can thrive and enjoy the many benefits of running.
