Vinicius), Professora Déia (Andréia), and Monitor Papagaio are our experienced and passionate instructors who have dedicated years to practising and teaching Capoeira. Pequeno has 27 years of Capoeira practise, Déia has 22 years, and Papagaio has 15 years. They bring their expertise and love for the art-form to every class and welcome and encourage everyone, regardless of age or experience, to join in.
Our classes are held in two locations: Brisbane and the Gold Coast. In Brisbane, our classes take place at the Yeronga Uniting Church on Mondays and Wednesdays for teens and adults. The class schedule is from 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm. On the Gold Coast, we will be starting classes at the Gecko Environment Council from the first term of 2024.
The class schedule on the Gold Coast is on Tuesdays, with classes for kids from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm and for teens and adults from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Our venues provide a safe and comfortable environment for learning and practising Capoeira.
We believe that Capoeira is for everyone, and we welcome first-timers to join us. Whether you have previous martial arts experience or no experience at all, our instructors will guide you through the movements, musicality, and acrobatics of Capoeira at your own pace. We foster a friendly and inclusive atmosphere where students can learn, have fun, and challenge themselves physically and mentally.
In addition to our regular classes, we also hold special events and gradings throughout the year. These events bring our community together and provide opportunities for students to showcase their progress and receive recognition for their achievements. We have had successful grading events in 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2017, 2016, 2014, and 2012. These events are a testament to the growth and dedication of our students and instructors.
At Capoeira Beribazu - Kangaroo Point, we are not just about physical training. We also explore the cultural and historical aspects of Capoeira through our blog, resources, and music. Our blog covers various topics related to Capoeira, including reflections on gender equality in the art-form. We believe in fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for Capoeira as a cultural manifestation.
