Cardinia Piranhas Swim Club Inc. is a community-based junior swimming club located in Melbourne, Australia. The club was formed in 1998 under the name Piranhas Swimming Club of Pakenham Inc. with the aim of promoting swimming as a sport and encouraging a healthy lifestyle.
The club has since grown and evolved, and in July 2006, it moved to its current home at the Cardinia Life YMCA facility.
The Cardinia Piranhas Swim Club serves the entire Cardinia Shire community. It is dedicated to providing opportunities for young swimmers to develop their skills, improve their fitness, and compete in swimming events. The club welcomes swimmers of all skill levels, from beginners to more experienced athletes.
To join the Cardinia Piranhas Swim Club, interested individuals must undergo a trial swim to assess their swimming abilities and determine if there is a placement available for their skill level. The club recommends that potential members have a minimum proficiency of 50-100m in freestyle and backstroke, with some ability in breaststroke and butterfly. Trial swims can be scheduled by contacting the club via email at cardiniapiranhas@hotmail. Com.
The club has annual membership fees that cover the swim year, which runs from July to June. The current annual fees are AUD 266. 00 for swimmers aged 8 and under, and AUD 277. 00 for swimmers aged 9 and over.
These fees include the annual club membership, Swimming Victoria membership, and insurance coverage. Additionally, a dry membership fee of AUD 23 is required when a child under 18 is enrolled to swim, with at least one parent or guardian registered as a dry member.
Monthly swim fees are AUD 60 per swimmer and cover coaching fees. Swimmers are allowed to participate in any or all of the weekly training sessions offered by the club, which take place on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Invoices for the monthly fees are sent to members, and payment is required through bank deposit. Pool entry is also required, and swimmers are responsible for obtaining an Aquatic Membership with Cardinia Life, which can be organised at the facility's front reception desk.
The club limits the number of swimmers in each lane to ensure that training sessions are conducted effectively. If there is a high level of interest, new members may be placed on a waitlist until a spot becomes available. Once approved to join the club, members receive a membership form via email that includes important information about the club's policies and codes of conduct, such as the Child Safe Code of Conduct, Club Constitution/Model Rules, Commitment Statement/Code of Conduct, and Child Safe Policy.
Overall, the Cardinia Piranhas Swim Club Inc. offers a supportive and inclusive environment for young swimmers in Melbourne to learn, improve, and enjoy the sport of swimming. With a dedicated coaching staff and state-of-the-art facilities, the club provides opportunities for swimmers to reach their full potential while fostering a sense of community and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
