Core part of Dassanayaka Yoga's offerings. This Melbourne-based sports club is a private sanctuary studio that provides a unique healing experience for individuals seeking to improve their overall well-being. With a focus on uniting awareness, the centre offers yoga, meditation, and healing options to help individuals connect with their true selves.
The founders of Dassanayaka Yoga, Channa Dassanayaka and Darren Murphy, are dedicated teachers and visionaries who have come together to serve and teach in Australia. Channa is a humble teacher who supports inner growth and teaches compassion from a space of realisation. He is a leading example of unconditional care and support for healing and community.
The Uniting Awareness Centre has been supporting the Northcote community since 2008, and now, with a new sanctuary studio opening soon in Northcote, they are expanding their facility to offer a more powerful and generous healing experience. The studio's services and healings are unmatched, providing individuals with a space to rejuvenate and reconnect with themselves.
At Dassanayaka Yoga, they believe that yoga is for everyone. Their centre allows individuals to experience the full healing benefits of authentic yoga, meditation, and healing practises. Whether one is a beginner or an experienced practitioner, there are options and facilities to suit all needs and levels.
In addition to their regular yoga and meditation classes, Dassanayaka Yoga also offers private healing sessions, retreats, and workshops. These opportunities allow individuals to dive deeper into their own practise and explore different aspects of their well-being.
Currently, the centre is running free online yoga and meditation classes every Saturday morning at 10 am. These classes are led by Channa and Darren and are open to all. They also host a weekly masterclass, providing a unique opportunity to learn from the experienced teachers.
Channa's journey has been one of resilience and healing. In late 2019, he discovered that he was living with a major heart disease due to stored genetics. He underwent an emergency heart artery bypass operation, and despite the challenges, he has come out stronger and more committed to his teachings. His poetic gifts and deep understanding of the mind and breath make his classes a truly transformative experience.
In 2024, with Channa's healing journey and the centre's reopening, Dassanayaka Yoga aims to continue their mission of sustainable service and generosity. Their approach is guided by the principle of unconditional support and nurturing of the community without separation.
Dassanayaka Yoga invites individuals to enhance their wellness by joining their classes and experiencing the transformative power of yoga and meditation. Whether one is seeking physical fitness, mental clarity, or spiritual growth, the centre provides a safe and nurturing space to embark on their journey of self-discovery.
