The Dressage Association of WA (DAWA) is a sports club located at the Magenup Equestrian Centre in Wandi, Western Australia. Established in 1978, DAWA is an incorporated body that aims to provide top-level coaching at a reasonable cost to individuals of all ages and abilities.
DAWA is dedicated to the development of dressage riders, trainers, and judges in WA and is affiliated with EA (Equestrian Australia) and ARCA (Australian Riding Clubs Association). The club maintains a consistent level of membership by being supportive and proactive to dressage riders' requirements. As a result, DAWA members have achieved considerable success at both State and National Championships.
Membership options at DAWA include Riding Member and Associate Member. Riding Members have the option to participate in mini lessons, group lessons with 2–3 riders, or ride individual tests and receive assessments and feedback. Each rider can have two sessions per rally. Riding Members also receive a monthly news blast.
On the other hand, Associate Members can attend rallies for lectures, demonstrations, and activities held at the club, as well as other activities and functions. Associate Members also enjoy discounts on competition and training day entry fees. All riders must wear EA approved riding boots and helmets that conform to the approved safety standards.
Training rallies are held every month from March to November, and members can choose from various time slots for training tests or mini lessons. Riders can book two consecutive 20-minute blocks or have time in between. Group lessons with 2–3 riders are also available, with durations ranging from 40 to 60 minutes. Rally attendance is coordinated by the club's Rally Organiser, and times are sent to members via email prior to the rally.
The club's committee plays a crucial role in the operation of DAWA and meets monthly to review the club's activities. For more information about the club, membership, or rally attendance, individuals can contact the secretary, Didy Massey, via phone or email. To join the next rally, participants can email the rally organiser.
For access to important documents such as membership forms, pencilling symbols, school figures, test assessment sheets, and the club's constitution, interested parties can visit the club's website or social media page.
DAWA welcomes individuals interested in dressage, whether they are beginners or experienced riders, and strives to provide a supportive and enriching environment for all equestrian enthusiasts in Western Australia.
