About
Established in 1955, East Fremantle Junior Football Club (EFJFC), also known as East Freo Power, is a renowned sports club located in Perth, Western Australia. Our club is proud to call the picturesque Henry Jeffery Oval our home ground. With a rich history, EFJFC has been instrumental in producing numerous talented footballers who have gone on to play in the WAFL, VFL, and AFL.
At EFJFC, we cater to all grades from Auskick to Under 17s. We welcome players of all ages and skill levels, and we are always on the lookout for new players to strengthen our teams. Whether you are a beginner looking to learn the fundamentals of the game or an experienced player wanting to take your skills to the next level, EFJFC provides a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
Our NAB AFL Auskick programme is specially designed to build the foundation skills required for playing Australian Rules Football while considering the physical needs of children in school years PP to Year 2. Through this programme, players not only learn essential football skills such as kicking, handballing, marking, gathering, evasion, and checking but also develop important life skills, including self-motivation, self-responsibility, self-management, persistence, resilience, and a best effort always attitude. In addition, social skills like cooperation, respect for others, improving health and fitness, and having fun are emphasised.
For junior footballers, EFJFC offers a well-structured match programme that takes into account the maturity level of their motor, cognitive, social, and emotional skills. The focus at this age level is to further develop basic game skills and learn technical and tactical concepts. Through the match programme, players get valuable opportunities to enhance their game skills, understand tactical principles, and improve their understanding of gaining possession, applying pressure, utilising space, and positional play.
As players progress to youth football at EFJFC, they play on full-sized grounds and follow the Laws of Australian Football with minor modifications. At this stage, the boys are introduced to various tactics and strategies seen at the elite level. Talented youth players may also be identified to participate in district football programmes, providing them with a pathway to senior football.
In 2017, EFJFC was thrilled to officially welcome its first dedicated Girls team. Girls have always been welcome to play at our club, and we are excited to provide them with a supportive and inclusive environment to showcase their skills and love for the game.
Additionally, EFJFC offers the Starkick programme, an all-abilities AFL Auskick programme for children aged 5-12 who are unable to join an existing football programme due to circumstances or personal choice. Starkick aims to cater to all disabilities, ensuring that every child can participate in AFL activities geared towards their own abilities. Through teamwork and inclusion, children develop important social skills and a sense of belonging to a wider team and community. Individual support and 1-on-1 assistance are available when needed.
