Essendon Croquet Club

Located in Essendon, Melbourne, Essendon Croquet Club is a vibrant sports club that offers various croquet activities for both social and competitive players. With its prime location at Windy Hill, on the corner of Brewster and Nicholson Streets, the club is easily accessible for members and visitors alike.

Social Golf Croquet is a popular activity at Essendon Croquet Club, with regular sessions held throughout the week. Members can enjoy a casual game on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, as well as Wednesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. On Saturdays from 9:00 am, there is another opportunity to engage in a social game. Additionally, the club organises Meal & Play evenings on Fridays during the spring, summer, and autumn seasons.

These evenings allow members to play Golf Croquet under the lights while enjoying a BBQ or meal.

Members of Essendon Croquet Club are also provided with the option to book unallocated court time for practise, coaching, and individual games. This flexibility ensures that members can enhance their skills and enjoy the sport at their convenience. The club also hosts various competitions, tournaments, and social events, which temporarily suspend the usual social play.

The club's leadership comprises dedicated individuals, including President Margaret Campbell, Club Secretary Neil Detering, Treasurer Marie Spokes, and Club Contact Alison Rickard. Essendon Croquet Club boasts excellent facilities, including two full-size “Santa Ana” grass courts, which provide an ideal playing surface for croquet. The club also offers a practise court for members to fine-tune their skills. Flood lights are available, allowing night play until 10:30 pm on both courts.

In addition to croquet activities, Essendon Croquet Club organises social functions and a variety of croquet events and competitions throughout the year. These events provide opportunities for members to socialise, compete, and further their croquet skills.
