About
Every Body Yoga courses really are suitable for everybody, regardless of your age, health, fitness, or level of experience. A non-competitive atmosphere allows you to practise to your own capacity, without comparison to others.
Whether you’re new to yoga or a seasoned pro, you are unlikely to have experienced anything like this before (unless you have previously practised Satyananda Yoga). Our classes are slow and gentle, with an intense focus on developing mindfulness and inner awareness. You may find this a real challenge, especially if you are used to approaching life with a fast-paced, achievement-oriented attitude. You may be surprised what you discover, when you slow down and become more present within yourself.
Around half of every class is dedicated to relaxation and meditation practise. You will also learn gentle physical postures to increase strength and flexibility, and to prepare your body-mind for effective meditation. The emphasis is on listening to your body and developing your self-awareness, rather than pushing yourself to attain some idea of perfection. You will be practising mostly floor-based postures, following clear verbal instructions.
You may become so internally focused, that you actually forget about the other people in the room!
The ultimate aim is to connect with the deep peace that is always within you – beyond the chatter of your mind. This is a skill that cannot be mastered overnight, but requires sustained regular practise. The rewards of regular practise are priceless, however you will experience some benefits from your very first class.
