Fortitude Boxing Gym, established in 1985, is a renowned “Old School” boxing gym located at 68 Abbotsford Road, Bowen Hills. More than just a gym, Fortitude is a close-knit family focused on the growth of each individual. They offer coaching and group fitness classes for people of all backgrounds and skill levels, from beginners to professional fighters.

Whether you're looking for a fun way to get fit, the challenge of stepping into the ring, or have aspirations of becoming a successful amateur or professional fighter, Fortitude Boxing Gym is the place for you. With over 30 years of experience, Fortitude has trained numerous champions, providing the opportunity to learn real boxing from the best in the industry.

The gym's coaches and fighters have a wealth of experience and have won titles in amateur and professional boxing both in Australia and worldwide. Unfortunately, in 2019, the original gym on Kyabra Street was devastated by a fire, resulting in the loss of precious boxing accolades. However, with the support of the community, Fortitude rebuilt and continued training at a temporary location on Robertson Street.

In June 2021, Fortitude Boxing Gym proudly opened their brand-new premises on Abbotsford Road, their new permanent home. The state-of-the-art facility features a range of boxing bags, a full-size boxing ring, weights area, cardio machines, and various equipment for strength and conditioning. This ensures that no matter your fitness goal, you'll have everything needed to train effectively.

Fortitude offers a variety of training options to suit different preferences, including group training classes, strength and conditioning sessions, one-on-one coaching, and specialised training for amateur and junior boxers. The gym's success is a testament to the incredible people who make up the Fortitude family.

Meet the remarkable individuals who lead Fortitude Boxing Gym. Steve Deller, the owner and head boxing coach, is a true expert in the field. With his guidance, Fortitude has trained and produced Olympians, Commonwealth Games Champions, state and national champions, as well as ONE World Champions. Don't hesitate to say hello to Steve if you see him around the gym.

Another key member of the team is Luke Meldon, the co-owner and head coach. Known as Lightning Luke, he currently trains the Australian Heavyweight Champion, Faiga Django Opelu, among other exceptional fighters. Luke's unique character and expertise add to the vibrant atmosphere at Fortitude Boxing Gym.
