Frankston Masters Swimming is a sports club located in Melbourne, Australia. The club was founded in 1981 after a public meeting at Frankston Teachers College. At the meeting, it was decided to form an AUSSI club in Frankston, and Brian Marshall was elected as the President. The original members who attended the meeting included Greg Caughey, Steve De Gelder, Karen Doyle, Mary Davis, Wayne Etcell, Lynne Emblin, Gavin Hamilton, Alice Kinnaird, Brian Marshall, Jillian Brooks, and Gary Marshall.
The club is primarily based at the Frankston High School Swimming pool, which offers a 25m indoor pool in the southern Frankston area. The club started with 15 members and has consistently maintained a membership of around 60 individuals. In 1981, training nights cost members $1, and yearly membership fees were $10. The club was officially incorporated in 1987.
Frankston Masters Swimming aims to provide a supportive and enjoyable environment for swimmers looking to improve their swimming skills. The club follows the motto of Masters Swimming, which is “Fitness through Fun and Friendship. ” They cater to a wide range of swimmers, including those who are just starting out and those who are experienced swimmers.
The club holds training sessions on Mondays and Thursdays from 7:15pm to 8:45pm at the PARC Frankston Swimming Pool. Swimmers are requested to arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start time and comply with the safety instructions issued by PARC. We swim for fun, fitness and friendship, and we cater for a wide range of swimmers. If you have had your 18th birthday and can swim 200 metres, you are welcome to come along.
We swim at PARC Frankston Swimming Pool, Olive Grove, Frankston. Training times are Mondays 7:30pm to 8:30pm, Thursday mornings 6:30am to 7:30am, and Thursday evenings 7:30pm to 8:30pm.
