GaleForce Running Squad

GaleForce Running Squad (GFRS) is a sports club based in Brisbane, Australia, that caters to runners of all levels and abilities. Whether you are a complete beginner or a serious athlete looking to improve your performance, the talented group of coaches at GFRS can help you achieve your goals.

Established in December 2007, GFRS offers a range of high-quality training sessions and methods to ensure that each athlete gets the most out of their training. Group training sessions provide numerous benefits, including safety, motivation, and the opportunity to make new friends. Research has also shown that group training has a positive influence on performance.

Running requires very little equipment, making it an accessible and cost-effective activity. All you need is a comfortable pair of shoes (preferably Brooks), suitable attire, and you're ready to hit the road. Running offers a sense of freedom and can be enjoyed in the early morning or late afternoon/evening.

GFRS accommodates athletes of all ages, with members ranging from 7 years old to 70 years young. Whether you're a beginner or have been running for a while, GFRS welcomes all individuals who want to experience the benefits of group training.

The head coach of GFRS, Chris Gale, is one of the most experienced running coaches in Queensland. With a reputation for getting the best out of his athletes, Chris caters to recreational runners as well as state and national representatives. His training philosophy aims to challenge each member of the squad and take them to new heights while maintaining a supportive and nurturing environment. Chris emphasises the importance of building strength in the legs through accumulated mileage, as smarter training is more beneficial than simply racking up kilometres.

In addition to his commitments with GFRS, Coach Chris also serves as the Head Cross Country Coach & Coordinator and Head Athletics Coach & Coordinator at Stuartholme School.
