German Shepherd Dog Club Of Victoria - Skye

The German Shepherd Dog Club of Victoria – Skye Branch is a sports club located in Melbourne, Australia. As a training branch of the larger German Shepherd Dog Club of Victoria, the Skye Branch offers a range of training services and information for German Shepherd Dog owners and enthusiasts.

The club's training grounds are located at KCC Park in Skye, where members can gather to train and interact with others who share their passion for German Shepherds. The committee members and instructors at the Skye Branch have extensive experience in living with, handling, and training German Shepherds, making them valuable resources for club members.

Training sessions take place on Sunday mornings from 10am to 11am for obedience training, followed by show training at 12pm. It is recommended that members arrive early, by 9:30am, to ensure a smooth registration process and to allow ample time to settle their dogs before training begins.

The Skye Branch welcomes puppies as young as 8 weeks old, as well as older dogs of all ages and levels of training. Training sessions are designed to be fun and rewarding for both dogs and their handlers, with various rewards such as food, toys, and verbal praise used throughout the training session.

The training curriculum covers a range of essential skills for well-behaved dogs, including socialising with other dogs, focusing and paying attention, basic commands such as sit, drop, and stand, recall (coming back when called), walking calmly and heeling, praise and play, problem-solving, and meeting other like-minded German Shepherd Dog owners and their dogs.

The Skye Branch also provides regular updates and news on their website, including important dates and events. Membership registration is required for training, and new members are required to contact Margaret, the Membership Officer, to complete the necessary paperwork.
