About

Gold Coast Dragon Boat Club is a sports club located in Gold Coast, Australia. The club is dedicated to the exciting and challenging sport of dragon boating, which combines strength training, cardio, teamwork, and rhythm to create an exhilarating and body-sculpting experience.

Dragon boating is a traditional canoe discipline with roots in ancient China and has gained immense popularity worldwide at both recreational and competitive levels. The dragon boat itself is a long and narrow vessel that is adorned with magnificent Chinese dragon decorations. The hull is often painted with scale patterns to represent a dragon's body, while the paddlers symbolise its claws. The boat features 10 seats, with two paddlers sitting side by side in each seat.

Additionally, there is a drummer at the front and a sweep at the back who steers the boat. Races are typically held over distances of 200m, 500m, 1000m, and 2000m.

Gold Coast Dragon Boat Club has a proud history and strives for excellence both on and off the water. The club embraces the motto of “Paddle Hard. Play Harder,” meaning that they work hard during training sessions while also enjoying the camaraderie and fun that comes with being part of a team.

These include the Queensland State Titles, Australian National Titles, and the highly anticipated Pan Pacific Masters Games in 2022.
