This swimming club started back in about 1963 under the name of Mermaid Swimming Club. It had its beginnings in a 20m pool in a Motel at Mermaid Beach, owned by Neville Brough. The Club then moved to the Southport Pool, where it amalgamated with the Southport Club. The Mermaid Swimming Club soon moved on to Labrador, and after two years there, relocated to the present location at Biggera Waters.
After 11 years at Biggera Waters, the name was formally changed to suit its location, and as from 1997 it was called Gold Coast North Swimming Club Inc.
