Goshinkai Kendo Club, located in Perth, Western Australia, is a well-established sports club that specialises in the practise of Kendo. Founded in 2001 by members of the UWA and WA Budo clubs, it takes its name from the Japanese characters 豪心会, which translates to “Group of Strong Spirits. ” This name reflects the club's commitment to strength, both in physicality and in spirit, while also representing its Australian identity.
The club's motto, “Challenge,” encapsulates its dedication to personal growth, honing kendo skills, and elevating the standard of kendo not only within the club but throughout Western Australia and Australia as a whole. Goshinkai Kendo Club warmly welcomes individuals of all skill levels to their training sessions, encouraging anyone with an interest in kendo to join.
The club holds training sessions on Mondays from 5:30 pm to 7 pm at Curtin Stadium in Kent Street, Bentley, Western Australia. Throughout the year, they also conduct an 8-week beginner course, offered in March and August, to introduce newcomers to kendo. The cost for the beginner course is $140, payable in cash, and includes a Shinai, which is a bamboo sword used in kendo practise. The next beginner course is scheduled to start on March 13th, 2023.
Interested individuals can simply arrive 15 minutes before the first session to sign up, with no prior equipment or preparation necessary. For further information, contact Courtney at cbabb73@yahoo. Com. au.
