Callisthenics, also known as Australian callisthenics, is a team-based competitive performing art that combines elements of rhythmic gymnastics, ballet, theatricality, costume, dance, and musical interpretation. The sport involves performing a variety of items at stage competitions, such as Figure March, Club Swinging, Free Exercises, Rod Exercises, Aesthetics, and various other 'Fancy Items'. Fancy items are rotated annually and include performances focused on theatrical aspects like Song and dance, Calisthenic Spectacular, Rhythmic, Stage Presentation, and Callisthenics Revue. At the highest level, callisthenics competitors must possess flexibility, strength, balance, control, precision, technique, execution, and choreography skills.
