Karma Kids Yoga is a sports club located in Perth, Australia that specialises in bringing yoga to kids in various settings such as pre-schools, out of hours school programmes (OOSH), and primary schools. The club's main focus is on promoting a healthy mind, body, and breathing techniques specifically designed for young kids, which helps to promote strength, resilience, and calmness.
The club's team consists of specially trained teachers who combine stories, music, imagination, and visualisation with traditional yoga techniques to create a unique movement experience for children. Their goal is to provide children with lifelong gifts that will benefit them both physically and mentally.
Karma Kids Yoga offers a wide range of services, including weekly kids yoga classes in childcare, OOSH programmes, and primary schools. They also provide NESA accredited 1-day workshops that inspire teachers to nourish themselves and equip them with easy-to-use tools for bringing calm into the classroom.
The benefits of kids yoga are numerous, and Karma Kids Yoga aims to lead the way in helping children manage stress and anxiety. They also focus on improving and encouraging good posture by strengthening torso and upper back muscles. Moreover, they provide children with attention deficit disorder (ADD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) natural tools to bring calm and quiet to their daily experiences. Additionally, they teach tools for “tuning in”, rather than constantly attaching to electronic devices.
Aligning with the benefits and growth of adult yoga in Australia, Karma Kids Yoga aims to increase demand and enrolments in centres that offer their services. They recognise that yoga is the fastest-growing sport in Australia, with mothers leading the pack, as per Roy Morgan Research 2016.
Karma Kids Yoga was founded by Beth Borowsky, who holds a Masters in Early Childhood from NYU and has over 1000 hours of yoga training, including kids yoga, adult yoga, yoga therapy, and meditation. She has developed a kids yoga programme and teacher training that not only nourishes teachers but also provides children with strength, flexibility, and mindfulness.
Recognising the rising levels of stress and anxiety among Australian teachers and the mental health issues among the youth, Beth created the KarmaKidsYoga programmes to nourish teachers and equip the youth with essential tools for managing their mental health and wellbeing.
Established in 2005, Karma Kids Yoga has taught yoga to over a thousand kids and trained hundreds of adults. They are NESA accredited educators and operate across the Sydney region. Their dedicated team of kids yoga teachers is committed to making a positive impact in the communities they serve.
Karma Kids Yoga also believes in giving back to the community. In July 2017, they travelled to Rainbow Ridge Orphanage in Tanzania to work with the children and train the staff, introducing them to the benefits of yoga, meditation, and mindfulness.
