The programme is open to children aged 6 to 16 and takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. For adults interested in Aikido training, Kenshinryu offers classes specifically designed for individuals aged 16 and above. These classes take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Aikido training at Kenshinryu not only focuses on self-defence skills but also enhances overall fitness and builds confidence that translates to all aspects of life.
Additionally, Kenshinryu provides training in Shinto Muso Ryu, a traditional weapons system that focuses on Sword, Jo (4-foot staff), and other associated weapons. Shinto Muso Ryu classes for adults take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM (with an additional Saturday session from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM).
The club offers various fee options for its programmes, all of which include annual membership and insurance coverage. The fees for adult classes are $99 for one month, $495 for six months, and $890 for one year for both Aikido and Shinto Muso Ryu. Aikido-only fees are $88 for one month, $440 for six months, and $790 for one year, while Shinto Muso Ryu-only fees are $66 for one month, $330 for six months, and $590 for one year. The club also provides family discounts, ranging from 20% to 40% depending on the number of family members participating.
Founded in 1991 as a full-time provider of the traditional Japanese martial art of Yoshinkan Aikido, Kenshinryu has expanded its syllabus over the years. In 2000, the club included instruction in Shinto Muso Ryu, which has had a significant influence on the Aikido practise and led to the development of Kenshinryu Aikido. The club offers classes six days a week at its headquarters in Palmwoods as well as a branch Dojo in Lismore, NSW.
