What is Kyokushin Karate?
Kyokushin Karate is a traditional Japanese martial art created by the legendary Karate Master Mas Oyama. After studying and mastering various martial arts, he was dissatisfied with their rigid ‘single approach’ methods. So he set out to create a system that trained the student to their strengths and not to that of the teacher’s strengths, a system that was practical, NOT based on aesthetics! In the end he ended up with Kyokushin which translates to: “The Way of the Ultimate Truth”.
After he completed his new system he attempted to introduce it to the rest of Japan, where it was not well received as many saw him as a renegade of the Martial Arts.
He entered the All Japan Karate tournament later that year to prove his Karate, not only did he win the tournament, he won all his matches by K. O! After such a performance it was impossible to deny the effectiveness of Mas Oyama’s new style and students travelled from all over Japan to train with the great master. These days Kyokushin Karate is spread all over the world including every major city in Australia, with over ten million members worldwide!
Thus all students that train in Kyokushin Karate have their grades recognised worldwide.
