The Longriders CMC Australia, Adelaide Chapter is a sports club located behind the Avoca Hotel on 893 South Road, Clarence Gardens. The club hosts an Open Night on the first Saturday night of each month from 7pm, where all are welcome to come and say hello. Additionally, they hold Bikers Church on the second Sunday of each month at 10am, with a service followed by a shared meal. The club welcomes everyone to join them at these events.
Established in 1989, the Longriders CMC Australia was founded simultaneously in two states: Victoria (Melbourne) and South Australia (Adelaide). Later in 1998, a third chapter was established in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales. The club began with only a few members, but they were dedicated to long distance riding on old machinery, often travelling between states on motorcycles like shovelheads, iron motor sporties, Nortons, BSA’s, and Triumphs. Over time, the club grew in numbers, although some members eventually moved on with other commitments.
However, the club is proud to have retained a core group of original members who now enjoy life membership.
The Longriders CMC values fair dinkum Christianity that requires action, brotherhood, family, and community. Family is of utmost importance to the club, and while membership requires a high level of commitment, family always takes priority. Members are encouraged to prioritise their responsibilities to their families, as strong and positive families contribute to the strength and positivity of the individuals themselves. The club also has a strong focus on Christian outreach and service to the biking community, supporting others in their journey of faith and providing assistance to those in need.
Through their efforts, the club has helped many individuals find freedom from drug and alcohol addiction, improved relationships and families, and a better quality of life.
