Melbourne Runabout and Speedboat Club (MRSBC) is a sports club located in Melton City, just 32 km west of Melbourne. Established in 1957, the club's primary goal is to promote the use of all classes of powerboats and provide a safe and friendly venue for boat racing, social skiing, and tournament skiing.
MRSBC is affiliated with prestigious organisations such as the Australian Power Boat Association (APBA), the Victorian Water Ski Association (VWSA), the Australian Water Ski Association (AWSA), and is also an associate member of the Boating Industry of Australia (BIA). This affiliation showcases the club's commitment to professionalism and adherence to high standards.
The club offers a range of skiing activities, including slalom, tricks, jumping, kneeboarding, and wakeboarding. With a “Member Only” access to the weir, MRSBC boasts an exceptional safety record, making it an ideal place for both aspiring young skiers and experienced racing enthusiasts to develop their skills. The club prioritises safety and requires all members to comply with both the State Boating Regulations and Club Rules.
Situated on 9 acres of land adjoining the picturesque Melton Reservoir, MRSBC provides a fully equipped boating and skiing facility for various occasions. Whether you're looking for a family day out skiing or enjoying a barbecue, or even participating in national boat racing events over an entire weekend, the club has you covered. Some facilities available at the club include a powerboat racing course, a slalom ski course, a competition ski jump, landscaped gardens, modern playground equipment, a fully maintained two-story clubhouse, change rooms with hot showers, picnic facilities, gas barbecues, toilets, wheelchair-accessible toilets and change rooms, electric boat launching ramps, a multi-bay floating pontoon, and ample car parking areas.
MRSBC takes pride in its involvement in the local community. The club has organised various events, including the Melton Gold Cup, V. W. A.
Disabled Ski Tournament, Wakeboard Victoria series, interclub skiing tournaments and coaching, Victoria Police social functions, Big Brother/Big Sister programmes, the National Scout Jamboree, wedding receptions, and Christmas party celebrations. These events contribute to the club's vibrant and inclusive atmosphere.
For water-skiing enthusiasts, MRSBC has recently installed a new slalom course at the “Island” or “bridge” end of the reservoir. The ski jump is currently undergoing repairs, ensuring members have access to top-notch facilities. It is important for members to familiarise themselves with the Club Rules & Constitution book, which outlines specific areas and maintenance requirements to ensure a safe and enjoyable skiing experience.
With its rich history, commitment to safety, extensive facilities, and active involvement in the community, Melbourne Runabout and Speedboat Club stands as a premier destination for water sport enthusiasts in the Melton City area and beyond.
