Moorabbin Archery Club, founded in 1946 and originally known as the Victorian Archery Club, is one of the oldest still-existing archery clubs in Victoria, Australia. The club's field has been located at its current site since 1953 and was officially opened in 1957. Moorabbin Archery Club warmly welcomes newcomers and new members, regardless of their level of archery experience.
If you've ever wanted to try archery, you can join one of the club's full two-hour sessions almost any Saturday or Sunday morning. These sessions include full instruction and all necessary equipment. The shooting fee is $35, and the times are subject to the availability of instructors and numbers of participants. At Moorabbin Archery Club, you can compete at your own pace through the club's Oz Bow programme or choose to enter one of the various club, state, or national archery competitions. The club adheres to the Bow Weight Limitations set by Archery Australia and Moorabbin Archery Club rules. Compound bows must not be set to a peak weight greater than 60lbs, while recurve, barebow, longbows, and traditional bows must not exceed 60lbs when drawn to the individual's draw length. The High Draw Rule applies at all times during shooting.
Moorabbin Archery Club, located in Melbourne, is one of Australia's largest target archery clubs. It boasts 42 permanent outdoor targets and an 18-metre indoor range, making it Victoria's largest target archery club. The club offers activities suitable for ages ranging from 6 to 80. It also provides programmes for juniors, such as the Active Junior Programme and the Come & Try Programme.
Additionally, the club organises birthday parties, corporate days, Scouts and Guides events, and archery programmes for schools and individuals with special needs.
Coaching services are available at Moorabbin Archery Club, and it is affiliated with WA (FITA), AA, and AV. The club caters to various divisions, including Olympic, compound, long bow, and barebow. Disabled accessibility is also a priority for the club, and it serves as Victoria's main Olympic archery training venue.
