Mu Yeh Taekwondo is a sports club located in Lithgow, New South Wales, under the jurisdiction of the Lithgow City Council. The club is dedicated to promoting the practise of Taekwondo and providing a safe and inclusive environment for all members of the community to learn and grow.
Mu Yeh Taekwondo is led by experienced instructors, Jesse Willoughby and Lisa Woodward. Jesse has over 16 years of experience and has achieved the rank of 3rd Dan Black Belt. He has trained with renowned Grandmaster Yong Dai Cho and other Master Instructors from overseas. Lisa, on the other hand, has more than 5 years of experience and holds the rank of 1st Dan Black Belt.
Both instructors are well-versed in various martial art styles including Taekwondo Bongsul and Floro Fighting Systems.
The club offers a variety of classes to cater to the needs and interests of individuals and families. One of their classes is Taekwondo Bongsul, which is incorporated into the Senior Taekwondo class. Taekwondo Bongsul involves the use of a long stick (staff) and focuses on practical and useful techniques for real-life situations. Learning these techniques not only develops self-defence skills but also increases mind control and concentration.
The class also includes medium and short stick techniques from Floro Fighting Systems.
For those looking for a competitive environment, Mu Yeh Taekwondo provides Tournament Taekwondo classes. Competitions are available in events such as Sparring, Patterns, Breaking, Self Defence, and Demonstrations, both individual and team events. Competitions range from the local level to national and international, including events like the Olympic Games. However, the emphasis at Mu Yeh Taekwondo is not on winning medals and trophies but on personal enjoyment and development.
The club has achieved success in competitions, with many NSW and Australian champions among its members. Participation in competitions is purely voluntary, with no pressure to compete.
In addition to Taekwondo, Mu Yeh Taekwondo also teaches Traditional Taekwondo, which incorporates a wide range of kicks, hand techniques, locks, throws, and an extensive self-defence system. The practise of Taekwondo not only enhances self-defence abilities but also boosts self-confidence, self-discipline, self-esteem, physical fitness, and general well-being. The club also instils values such as responsibility, respect, humility, and honesty, emphasising the importance of achieving harmony within oneself.
Classes are held at the Portland Central School Hall, with entry on Villiers St. in Portland, NSW. There are two class sessions available: one for ages 7 to 13 years from 4. 45 PM to 6.
00 PM on Mondays and Thursdays, and another for ages 14 years and up from 6. 00 PM to 7. 15 PM on the same days.
