The club was formed in 1997 with a handful of members. We have had various locations over the past years and now enjoy a permanent site at Nesca Park Cooks Hill, Newcastle. We are fortunate to have a 20-year lease on this site courtesy of the goodwill and support of the Newcastle City Council. In 2001, driven by the urgency of hosting the first Australian Masters Games in Newcastle, we built our clubhouse with the support and expertise of the Cessnock Correctional Centre.
The building was completed a day before the start of the Games. Over the years we have been continued to host various Masters Games, NSW and Australian titles and other events that have supported charitable causes and celebrated specific events. In 2004, we hosted the NSW Health system Inter-Hospital Olympics, with funds derived from the event going toward the Calvary Mater Hospital at Waratah. Since 2010, we have hosted the opening event for the Hunter Festival of Sport run by the Hunter Academy of Sport.
In 2012, we organised the petanque event over two days as part of the Australian Transplant Games at our club.
