We have been around for years! Ever since Newport Arms was established and brought to life the fishing club was introduced and been fishing ever since representing Newport Arms.
Now in 2018 it is known as ‘The Newport’.
We are keen and eager fishermen, women and children, ranging from all ages that come together every 2nd weekend of each month and take on the conditions that the weekend throws at us to bring in some amazing fish for all to see.
You are allowed to fish any way you like EXCEPT spear fishing.
You can start fishing as of 3pm on the Friday Afternoon and then the Weigh In (where you bring in all your legal caught fish for everyone to see) will be on the Sunday at 1. 30pm at The Newport.
There are many categories to choose from including Deep Sea, Estuary, Rock and Beach. We also have friendly competitions for ladies, children, and even your boat receives points as well.
All fish have certain lengths and bag limits that must be followed. You will receive this once you have joined the club.
We have a point system which at each weigh in the weight of each species is then transfered into points and builds each month which accumulate into winners at the end of the year.
You pay an annual fee of $35 for an individual, $50 for a family (2 adults and kids under 18) and $50 Couple (Over 18). This includes lunch at every weigh in for the year provided by the club.
