Nimbin Bushwalkers Club Inc. is a sports club located in Kyogle, Australia. Established in 2005, the club initially attracted members from the Nimbin area but has since expanded to include members from Ballina, Mullumbimby, Murwillumbah, Kyogle, and anywhere in between. The club aims to provide opportunities for its members to explore the beautiful natural surroundings of the region while promoting physical fitness and mental well-being.
The club organises regular walks that are well-attended by its members. These walks serve as a means for individuals to recharge their bodies and minds, especially during challenging times. A recent example of a successful club walk was the Mount Chowan walk in August, which saw 19 walkers in attendance. The participants embarked on a scenic journey, utilising a combination of off-track trails and fire trails to reach the summit.
The stunning panoramic views from the top provided a rewarding experience for all. The club also ensures plenty of breaks during walks to allow participants to appreciate their surroundings fully. Additionally, the club often plans breaks for activities such as afternoon tea to foster a sense of camaraderie among members.
The club is led by a dedicated committee, including positions such as President, Vice-President, Secretary/Public Officer, Treasurer, Walks Co-ordinator, Publicity Officer, and Webmaster. Comprising natural enthusiasts, the committee strives to provide a variety of walks suitable for all fitness levels. Walks range from easy grade 1 or 2 routes to more challenging grade 3 to 6 treks, including off-track adventures in the Nightcap Range. The club has also organised camping and walking trips to various locations like Moreton and Fraser Islands, as well as weekend camps to places such as Border Ranges, Bald Rock, Jerusalem Creek, and Broughton Island.
To ensure the safety and well-being of participants, the club is affiliated with Bushwalking NSW for insurance purposes. Club membership is currently priced at $25 per year, which covers insurance costs. Visitors or newcomers who wish to join a walk can do so by paying a $10 fee and signing a risk waiver form. This fee will be deducted from the yearly membership fee if they decide to become a member afterward.
The club prides itself on creating a friendly and inclusive environment, and visitors from other clubs or newcomers looking for new adventures are always welcome.
