North Avoca Surf Life Saving Club

North Avoca Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) is a renowned sports club located in Central Coast, Australia. Established in 1956, our club has been dedicated to providing aquatic safety for all beachgoers, ensuring that families can enjoy their leisure time in a safe environment. Our volunteer lifesavers have been patrolling North Avoca Beach since its inception, serving as a vital presence on weekends between the months of September and April.

At North Avoca SLSC, we believe in fostering the development of surf skills and promoting a strong sense of community. Whether you aspire to become a competent lifesaver or aim to represent your club, state, or country in surf sports, our club is here to assist you in achieving your goals. We provide the necessary training for lifesaving and competitions across all age groups, empowering our members to excel in their respective fields.

Over the years, our dedicated volunteer lifesavers have carried out numerous tasks to ensure the safety of visitors. In the 2022/23 season alone, we recorded zero preventable actions, performed multiple rescues, carried out first aid procedures, and logged countless patrol hours. These numbers highlight our commitment to keeping North Avoca Beach a secure and enjoyable destination for everyone.

The history of North Avoca SLSC traces back to its unofficial founding in 1956, when the club operated out of Don Davies' garage. This initiative arose from a tragic incident that year, where two young men drowned during a post-lunch swim. The first clubhouse was a humble wooden shed situated near Ian Morrison's garage. Presently, our clubhouse is a modern facility that was officially opened on March 9th, 1966, and has undergone refurbishments and expansions in 1999.

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, North Avoca SLSC has implemented a comprehensive COVID-19 Safety Plan to ensure the well-being of our members and visitors. We've prioritised adhering to all government regulations and guidelines to create a safe environment for everyone.
