Old Scotch Soccer Club is a sports club located in Melbourne, Australia. The club was established in 1981 by a group of past students from Scotch College who wanted to continue playing soccer with their mates at a high standard. The founders of the club, John Bennetts, Dave Polmear, and Ian Savage, were supported by the school and received grassroots involvement from other past students.
The club's soccer programme was initially inspired by Andy Tait, a Scotch College teacher and the first coach of the Old Scotch Soccer Club. Under Tait's guidance, the club was able to recruit players from previous years through the Old Scotch Collegians Association (OSCA). Owen Davies was appointed as the club's first captain.
In 1982, Old Scotch Soccer Club joined the Victorian Amateur Soccer Federation and fielded two teams, the Firsts and Reserves. While the club primarily aimed to cater to past students of Scotch College, it has since grown to offer a pathway for players from diverse backgrounds.
Old Scotch Soccer Club values the enjoyment of playing with friends and aims to provide a high standard of soccer for its members. The club is committed to fostering a sense of community and leadership among its players. It takes pride in being a part of the Love the Game charter by Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation.
The club is currently competing in State League 1 South East and is planning to launch a women's team in 2024. Old Scotch Soccer Club also offers a junior programme and invites expressions of interest for sponsorship opportunities. For any inquiries or to express interest in joining the club as a player or sponsor, interested parties can email the committee at committee@ossc. com.
