Penrith RSL Junior Rugby Union Club

Penrith RSL Junior Rugby Union Club is a prominent sports club located in Sydney, Australia. The club aims to provide pathways for Rugby in the Penrith-Nepean region, catering to both boys and girls in the traditional 15 a side format as well as Rugby 7s.

Established to complement and collaborate with the Penrith Junior District, which was reinstated in 2011, Penrith RSL Rugby strives to build a strong foundation for the Senior club by offering a straightforward pathway for aspiring players, coaches, administrators, and volunteers. All junior players wear the district badge with pride and aspire to represent Penrith RSL Rugby.

The club is dedicated to the long-term development of players, recognising that non-selection in junior representative teams should not discourage them from pursuing their goals as players mature and develop at different rates. The success of Penrith RSL Rugby is measured by several factors, including u6s choosing Saturday Minis Rugby over Soccer and League, the establishment of a centralised Penrith District Saturday Minis competition in collaboration with the district and stakeholders, and successful transitions of juniors to the Penrith Emus Grade team.

Penrith RSL Rugby is conveniently located at Nepean Rugby Park, 78A Andrews Road, Penrith, New South Wales 2747. The club offers opportunities for players under 10 and above to participate in the Sydney Junior Rugby Union Sunday competition. Additionally, these age groups have the chance to trial for Penrith Representative teams and compete in the NSW State Championships.

Having launched Girls 7s in 2014, Penrith RSL Junior Rugby Club had initially formed three teams, one for each available competition. However, due to market saturation in girls' sports and challenges in coordinating consistent training nights, retention rates were impacted. One of the club's first female players, Madison Ashby, has successfully represented Australia, and the club aims to create more opportunities for aspiring female Rugby players in the future.

For Minis Rugby, designed for players in the age groups of U6 to U9, Penrith RSL Rugby participates in the Western Sydney Minis competition on Saturday mornings. Training sessions are held on Wednesdays from 6pm.

Penrith RSL Rugby is managed by a dedicated committee consisting of key roles such as President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, Registrar, General Committee members, and additional committee members. The club also boasts a team of experienced coaches, including Steve McGivern, Patrick Salas, and Stephen Boyle, among others.
