Established in 1950, Pivot City Basketball Club in Geelong is a highly successful sports club that has grown from humble beginnings. The club played a major role in forming the amateur competition in Geelong, now known as Basketball Geelong, and currently plays its games at The Arena.
Pivot City aims to provide an enjoyable and thriving environment for basketball players of all ages and skill levels. As a family-based club, they have clear objectives and a structured approach known as Pivot Way. This, combined with their experienced and qualified coaches, helps players achieve their goals, whether it be at the local, state, or national level.
The club strives to have teams in all A grade sections of the domestic competition and also supports player development in B and C grade levels. Over the years, Pivot City has achieved great success at both domestic and state levels, winning numerous titles. Several players from the club have gone on to represent Geelong, Victoria, and even Australia, including at the Olympic Games.
Pivot City has produced players who have represented the club and the country at the highest level, with Michelle Chandler, Neil Mottram, and Robbie Johnstone making national teams that participated in the Olympics. Additionally, many of the past and current SEABL Supercats players have come from Pivot City, including well-known names such as Jamie Medved, Jason Reardon, Jarrod Leonard, Dan George, and Nick Van der Klooster.
The club boasts Andrew Gaze, a renowned basketball player, as its number one ticket holder. Pivot City also collaborates with Andrew to run clinics and participate in various club functions. The club conducts training sessions at Geelong College and Sacred Heart College, with long-term plans to establish its own stadium.
Pivot City takes pride in its history as a Club Championship winner in numerous years, and has been recipients of the Men's tops title 10 times and the Women's tops title 16 times.
